Alishan, Taiwan – Day 5(c)

Fen Qi Hu
Fen Qi has always been famous its botanical scenery. The most outstanding of which is the cryptomeria, meng zong bamboo and si fang bamboo. Unfortunately, gone are the bustling days due to the destruction of the typhoon last year. The place was dead when I arrived there on a Fri afternoon. Most of the shops had closed or devoid of any customers and the railway empty.

railway bento
According to the guidebook, Ya hu railway bento is cheap and good. We were the only customers for the afternoon and they only made the bento sets when we approached the shop. NT220 for a chicken drumstick box with vegetables.

8/8/09 flooding
Some snaps of the destruction from last year.

season star
Since there was nothing much to be done, we headed back to our B&B by 1pm and the place was really pretty out of the fog.

nice weather
Imagine having tea and over looking into the tea plantation without the fog in a nice cool 16C temperature.

macro mode
How nice.

aboriginal cafe
our friendly B&B owners brought us and treated us to this Aboriginal cafe, Youbasi Cafe for dinner.

aboriginal dinner
Dinner was excellent with combinational BBQ pork plate, Betel flower salad, stir fried wild mushrooms, stir fried mountain pork, stir fried home grown cabbage, stir fried vermicelli with pumpkin and Ai yu dessert. We were really really full and thankful of the generosity and kindness of our B&B owners

@eelin: hi! I stayed at 四季星空 (http://seasonstar.com.tw/) but they are in the middle of Aishan so it is still a distance away from Alishan top but I like this place. You can always rent a cab to go up to the mountains.
You can read about the B&B here too https://sheyx.wordpress.com/2010/06/26/alishan-taiwan-day-4b/
