Electronic check in

Have you ever tried electronic device check in?
Some of the domestic flights in USA provided electronic device check in which means, you do not need to print out your air ticket.
When going through the security check, you show this page on your smartphone and the TSA agent would ask you to scan this on the electronic device and once it is approved, you would pass security.
Upon boarding, you just scan your smartphone again and you are boarded.

Although, the little hic-cup was that the scanner wasn’t very sensitive at the security check that it took a few tries before it could detect the QR code (basically I had to zoom in the page on the iPhone) but I felt a little comforted that I saved a piece of paper that day 🙂 and excited to try another aspect of the improved check in technology.

The trick to make this work is when you place your iPhone on the scanner glass, to make sure the screen doesn’t rotate. Otherwise that confuses the scanner and it slows down the process.

I use these passes on all the domestic flights that I take. Int’l flights, I prefer paper since I don’t always have data outside the country.
