Chinois By Susur Lee


Chinois is International Celebrity Chef Susur Lee’s first restaurant outside North America. It combines the soul of fine Chinese dining with contemporary interpretation. Its strategic location within Hotel Michael at Resorts World Sentosa supports its artistic outlook and inventive décor to cater to an array of audiences alike. Diners will indulge in fine Chinese dining amidst the eclectic modern Oriental décor.

Chinois is currently having a 1-1 lunch set promotion for S$60 ++ with UOB credit card till Aug 31 2011.

However, we decided not to go for the set lunch but to make a selection of foods from their ala carte menu. The “unagi (grilled eel) and taro sqaures” caught my eyes. I was not disappointed. The grilled eel sits on top of the grated taro where the top was slightly pan fried to make it crispy. The taro looked like it was steam together with the carrot cake. This piece of food art really scored high marks from me.

Another scorer, grilled cod which was really fresh with a dash of balsamic vinegar. On the side was white egg with some flakes of yellow which tasted like salted egg.

Not particularly fitting to my tastebuds as this was a little too salty for me but it was pretty interesting to see artichokes being cooked in Chinese style claypot as usually the artichokes I eat would be in dip form. This claypot dish went great with the plain white rice

Braised sea cucumber
Last but not least, my favorite braised sea cucumber…a treat for me.
