Mozza Osteria

Sorry for the disapperance as I was super busy…..but more food, travel and shopping posts coming up soon 🙂

Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich meld their prodigious talents to bring Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza to the heart of Los Angeles. With the devout commitment to product, environment and hospitality, the two unique but equally engaging concepts provide dynamic templates for displaying the group’s profound passions.

from the kitchen
Complements from the kitchen, luring us to order more cheese from the kitchen?

grilled octopus
Grilled Octopus with potatoes, celery & lemon – saw this recommended on some blogs but I felt that this was too charred for me.

Burricotta with radicchio, spiced walnuts, honey & fried rosemary – Very rich for non-cheese eaters but fresh cheese does beats anything hands down.

grilled snapper
Grilled Whole snapper with herbs & extra virgin olive oil – this came as a surprise to us as we were expecting a fish fillet but not a WHOLE fish which is pretty atypical in a western restaurant but fret not, it was de-boned. Fish was served fresh from the grill and they poured the olive oil in front you on top of the spinaches. Sputtering some sea salt over the fish and it was ready to be eaten. I actually love this dish more as the fish was fresh and light on the taste. Some may find it a bit tasteless but I thought the sea salt was able to bring out the taste of the fish.

fried potato
Pairing the light tasted fish was some salted fried potato with rosemary. The saltiness of the potatoes vs the light taste fish went well together though.
