Chichibu is a city in Saitama, about 1.5 hours by train from Tokyo. The usually quiet town would be bustling with life during different events.
From the station, it would be about 20 minutes walk to our destination. It was a pleasant walk under the blue sky in the breezy weather.
Our first stop, would be the local strawberry farm very near to the park entrance.
It is about 1000JPY for eat all you can…..and it is really a battle on how fast you can eat those big and juicy ones.
Rows of strawberries……..some red and big but some are still green.
Just pick and pop them into your mouth.
Freshly pick strawberry: isn’t this big and fresh? The skin of the strawberry looked almost waxy…..
The main star of the day – Shibazakura at Hitsujiyama Park (芝桜・羊山公園)
Entrance fee is 300JPY with a free post card.
Almost ten types of shibazakura provide colors of pink, white and purple at the park. The flowers are strategically planted to produce delightful designs across the fields. From the northern end of the fields, gorgeous views shibazakura with Mount Buko in the backdrop can be seen.
Perfect day with blue sky and beautiful flowers.
Many people were scattered around basking in the sun or having a picnic.
Enjoying the last bits of spring weather in Japan as the temperatures are soaring now.
Welcome to the land of cute mascots and this animate is the mascot for the park.
The next most crowded place would be the food stalls.
Here we can appease our growling tummies with local food like freshly grilled mushrooms dipped in light soy sauce and local delicacies like miso fried potato.
Before we end our trip at Chichibu, there is a little hill top that we can walk up to to enjoy the town view.
On a side note, Mister donut is having a promotion and selling Hello Kitty donuts. 🙂 Kudos for the hello kitty fan.
