izakaya
Coincidentally, one of my classmate actually lived just right opposite me after I moved. Since the holidays started, we did some exploration of our neighborhood in the hunt of some new eating places. These are the moments where our bad Japanese failed us, we were happy to find a izakaya with a high rating nearby and we just pop in. However, we soon realize that it was mainly a pork/beef innards izakaya. Much as we love Japanese food but too much innards is just too much. First off some chicken liver sashimi.

izakaya
Beef intestines…..grilled with salt.

izakaya
Cold tofu salad, to ease off the grill.

izakaya
Beef stew but it was mainly intestines. :X

izakaya
When this arrived, we were like on the verge of giving up. We decided on pork skewers instead of chicken skewers since we had too much yakitori since we arrive in Japan but, out of the 5 sticks only 1 was meat and the rest were the innards of various part of the pig……..

No wonder, the restaurant was full of male customers because I think ladies would not be able to eat so much innards.

LOL – oh noooo!! I would be so grossed out. It reminds me of our one night stop in Fukuoka – we just picked a seafood izakaya randomly but little did we realize it was 99% sashimi whatever we ordered (prob due to bad Japanese ability as well – lol!!). I love sashimi but it was too much, and some dishes had raw egg + mashed up raw fish, and fish innards as well. Plus sticky raw squid… wah liew… I felt nauseous after that experience. There is too much of a good thing.

@BB: oh man, I can totally understand what you mean! I was pretty stuffed with so much innards and it didn’t help that my companion gave up half way and I have to finish most of the food.
