Tucked in a quiet corner a short distance from Tawaramachi Station, was a really really old okonomiyaki shop.
Intense heat just greeted us when we entered this place, apparently they have no air conditioning and I thought we must be crazy to be eating here in this crazy Tokyo heat.
But, the place was already half full when we came at 630pm and there was a television station filming people visiting this restaurant. There were also using thermal camera to measure the temperature inside.
Fresh Hokkaido potato pan fried with butter……
This is so far, the most delicious okonomiyaki place I visited in Tokyo. Totally recommend and they have a English menu. Looking at the constant stream of foreign visitors, this place is probably recommended on guide books too.
Waiting for okonomiyaki to be ready
This is a special from the restaurant which is a combination of crepe + okonomiyaki + yakisoba.
No photo of the finished product but here’s a instagram video of the whole process of this special okonomiyaki
Apparently, you can also make dessert of Japanese red bean crepe roll with a hot plate too.
Totally recommend this place if you are in the vicinity of Asakusa but maybe at a cooler temperature 🙂
