Been a long time since I visited Tokyo DisneySea, staying in Tokyo doesn’t warrant that you would visit lots of places of interest. Anyway, I was super excited to be able to come back since it had been a long time and I love going to Disneyland.
This time, our first stop was the Disney Resort center as we had booked a staycation with the ever popular Disneysea Hotel, Mira Costa. Can you believe that most of the Saturdays’ rooms are almost sold out and January is considered to be the cheapest month as it was Winter and exam season in Japan and it is still a minimum of 36000JPY for a room only rate. Anyway, we had a special occasion so we decided to indulge in this once off staycation. Checking in at the Resort Center would also allow you to pick up your 2 days pass on the Disney monorail (which cost 800JPY). The design currently is the 30th anniversary design. With GST raising from 5% to 8% come April 2014, it is also a good time to go before the tickets increase in prices. Plus there is a current promotion for student card holders that you only pay 5200JPY (instead of 6200JPY) for the Spring student promotion. This promotion ends on Mar 14, 2014 so do bring along your student card if you are visiting Tokyo Disney this year.
The day we visited was also the Coming of age day in Japan (Jan 13 2014) so people who live in district would be invited to have their ceremony in Disneyland itself. Gals are usually decked in fancy kimonos for this day when they become an adult.
If you want to eat at a nice place, recommendation is to head over to the restaurants that you want to go and make your reservations. We headed there just 30 minutes after opening time, the restaurant was already fully booked for 6pm – 745pm time slots. We could only get the 520pm timeslot, which was fine with me. In fact, it is better to eat early as those who had booked the usual time slot of dinner actually have to wait for the people who are seated at 5pm to leave their tables before getting in.
So we decided to walk around and wait till lunch time to take the Toy Story ride. People were already waiting in line for the 1230pm musical outside the performing hall at 11am. From the looks, they came prepared…..Pros!
A boat ride
We were asked if we were willing to take part in the survey for them to more accurately deduce the wait time. They scan the card when we started waiting in line and pass the card back before we get on the ride.
This marks the first half of our Disneysea adventure…..before the sun sets at 445pm….
