[Throwback June] By this time, we already know who is the World Cup winner for 2014…….but since I had the opportunity to be in Japan when the Japanese team was in play. I wanted to join in with the Japanese to experience the World cup fever in supporting for their home team.
Japan’s first match was on a Sunday morning at 10am but which worked out perfectly for all the fans/non fans. Even the news reported that there was barely anyone on the busy streets of Ginza and Shibuya that morning as many people were staking out somewhere to watch the matches. The electronics stores even allowed people to go to their store to watch the match with the latest 4K TV.
Do you know why there is a red stripe on the shoulder for this year’s jersey? This is because when the team gathers in a circle arm in arm before the match started, the red stripe would join together to show a bright red circle to show unity.
But the soccer fever did not stop after the whole match was done. Everyone dispersed out and most lunch places were crowded. Of course posters where Honda was was also crowded with fans. We also went to take some photos.
