Summer in Japan means steaming in this hot pot but it also means a lot of fun activities like Japanese summer festivals and fireworks.

I was able to bring my family to the Katsushika Fireworks 2014 (葛飾花火 2014) when they visited. While they went shopping in Shinjuku, I was home preparing the food needed for the picnic.

Our special guest that evening, my friend who lived nearby joined us too.

The uncle was all relaxed and ready for the fireworks.

While we ate and drank under the hot weather, the sun set and it was more windy. Then it was a full hour of fireworks display.

A little far from where the actual display was but it was still magnificent.

Definitely one of the favorites summer activities – wearing my yukata and watching fireworks.

Though, one of not so fun activity would be when the fireworks were over and everyone is headed out to the stations. The flow of traffic was smooth with not much pushing where everyone was orderly but it was still very very very hot to be sardined in this mass crowd.
