The main highlight of visiting Tomamu was to visit Unkai Terrace to admire the sea cloud. Hotel patrons can purchase the round trip cable car ticket the night before at half price but the risks was if the sea cloud did not happen, you would have already paid for your cable car ride. We went ahead to buy our tickets and woke up at 4am to check the status from the hotel TV. (You can check the status either from TV or from their webpage) Unfortunately for us, the seacloud did not happen and so we went back to sleep till 6am before heading out.
It was really foggy that day.
Almost don’t feel like it is Japan right? The Unaki Terrace is only opened from June to October annually.
T_T Totally cloudy.
Every morning from 6-7am, you can join in stretching classes here
They even had smartphone camera stand for you to take your group shoot.
Nice to enjoy a cup of hot coffee if we could have a better view.
The sea cloud did happen 2 days before we arrived….*sob sob*, travelling is jut all about luck!
If we were lucky, we would be able to admire this view.
Watching the sunrise with this view would had been great.
Post cards can be purchased and many tourists were mailing postcards back to their home country as they would be able to get the Tomamu chop on the post card.
we didn’t stay too long there since it was really hazy and most of the views was covered. We had a lot of breakfast options to choose from but we decided to just have our breakfast at the foot of the mountain with fresh mountain air.
The sausage and bacon grill was sooooooooooooooooooooo delicious that we can’t stop going back for more.
Breakfast and you can see we did load up with lots of melons too…
Almost time to check out….but we barely had enjoyed much of the resort activities. Definitely recommended to check in early to make full use of their facilities and activities.
Would be nice to enjoy a cup of coffee there too.
Nice play area for your kids too.
They have a huge indoor pool area with warm water that creates waves at intervals. Onsen use is only available from 12pm till 11pm in the night.
You don’t even have to bring anything cos everything can be rented. From floats to swimwear.
They even have hiking routes.
Don’t worry, no bears here.
Fracy bringing 2 towers back as souvenirs?
1.5 hours drive back to the west towards Chitose, stopping by Yubari to buy the most famous Hokkaido melon in Hokkaido. Yubari melons are famous for their strict production control and so many Japanese would send Yubari melons as gifts.
Melon pan (bread)
Last dose of Hokkaido ramen before we leave
This place was really good, thick broth and delicious noodles.
Pork was also soft and fragrant.
