[Throwback September] Sushi San’s friend had a off day on a weekday and asked if I was interested to go on a bus tour with her since it was the start of the autumn season and always a good time to go away from the city. We picked a tour to Chichibu, just 2 hours away from Tokyo in Saitama. One of the greatest thing about traveling on a weekday is less traffic but surprisingly we have a full bus tour of 30.
First stop for our day trip would be the quick current boat ride down the river.
Plastic sheets at the side can be lifted up when we go down the quick currents so we won’t get wet.
However the currents were relatively mild that day.
Just a short 15 minutes ride of the boat ride and we arrived at the shores.
The obligatory group photo location.
Early autumn weather is cool in the nights but still hot in the day. It was almost like summer temperatures when we arrived at the Shrine.
However, everything is just so serene.
Prayer service in progress.
Grilled rice balls with soy sauce.
But I tried Miso ice cream instead. I think it is an acquired taste, ice with salty taste. haha…
So different from the busy Tokyo train tracks.
In Japan, not only you keep your eyes out of nice scenery, you can also should look down for interesting manhole designs and pavement arts.
Lunch was pork hot stone BBQ.
Food in Japan is always so fresh and yummy.
right after lunch was a 30 minutes eat all you can grape picking course, the chairs are set facing each other. Almost like a match making session in progress.
Can’t get enough of fresh fruits in Japan.
Last stop was a onsen hot soak, with free shaved ice. Japanese love to drink a bottle of fresh milk after they are done with a hot soak, so we also got ourselves some fresh Chichibu milk too! Ahhhhhh, so good!
