We were not too adventurous yet with a new baby for our trip so we decided to head out for a 2D1N onsen trip about 1.5 hours away from Sushi’s hometown. We went on a weekday so the train was relatively sparse and finally digging into an eki-ben. Been a long time for me 🙂
Kinugawa Onsen (鬼怒川温泉) is a popular hot spring resort town along the Kinugawa River in Tochigi Prefecture. The town is centered around the large hotel ryokan lining the riverbank, and offers many amusements such as the Tobu World Square and Nikko Edomura theme parks in addition to its hot spring baths. – Japan Guide
Bought our ticket in advance as we missed the shuttle bus to our hotel and the next bus was 20 minutes later.
Baby M cosy in the carrier, in fact she slept through most of the trip.
Enjoying the cold fresh air.
Since we are in Tochigi, of course there would be a lot of strawberry related products.
Arriving at the onsen hotel that we would be staying for the night. Asaya Hotel is one of the bigger onsen hotels in the area.
Since it was the first week of January so there was still a lot of New Year decoration (Yup, I took almost 6 months to write this post!)
Lots of activities and rest area for this hotel but too bad, I had a baby tagging along else I would definitely want to explore…
Walking the hall way to our room and appreciating the art is one of the fun stuff of staying in onsen.
I miss this Japanese style of relaxation!
Lounge area near the balcony.
The view from our room.
Western style beds in the bedroom.
Different sizes of yukata, they cater all the way to 190cm.
Bath amenities, they also prepared a kid’s one.
The bathroom area has 2 sinks!
Beauty care for the ladies…
We made the reservation for a room catered for babies and there was a diaper disposal bin included too. We can also request for sterilizing equipment, emergency diapers, bumbo and most amenities needed for a baby. Additional charges is needed if you want a baby futon but we decided to co-sleep and there was no charges.
I never use the bathroom when I stay in the onsen but this time we have one user – Baby M.
What was inside the amenities kit, love that they had a sheet mask included.
What a great way to start the Monkey year.
